International Women’s Day is today, March 8th, and the Women’s March organizers have called for today to be A Day Without Women to highlight the importance and impact of women in our world. We’ve selected a couple actions recommended by MomsRising.org to help us recognize this important day.
Also, today is the right time to double down on the Department of Homeland Security for moving forward a plan that would separate children from their mothers and fathers at the border. This is unconscionable. Don’t let it happen without a fight!
TODAY’S 5 Minute Actions:
Step 1: Stand With All Women On “A Day Without Women”:
- Wear RED in solidarity with all women (This red can be worn in a private or public way, i.e. red socks count too!).
- Avoid spending money (except at small, women- and minority-owned businesses that support gender, racial, and economic equity/Day Without A Woman).
Step 2: Tell the Department of Homeland Security: Do not separate mothers and children!
- Post on the DHS Facebook page, click here and paste your comment in the first comment box regardless of the headline topic – https://www.facebook.com/pg/homelandsecurity/posts/?ref=page_internal
- Script: Your action that would separate immigrant mothers and their children is abhorrent. And for Kelly to say that the children will be well taken care of – give me a break! There is no way this would be the case. Do you ever put yourself in the shoes of these families? This is a disgrace to humanity.
BREATHE AND STEP FORWARD!
