5 Minute Action for Saturday, 3/4: Support Daniela Vargas and DREAMers

We suggest doubling down on yesterday’s 5 Minute Action aimed at the DREAMer attack by Trump. We suggest you take these same actions TODAY. Daniela and other DREAMers need to hear from us.

Stories are emerging every day. DREAMers are being rounded up by ICE. Trump’s words – that DREAMers “shouldn’t be too worried” and “those incredible kids” – are so BS, we don’t even know what to say.

Among the many young people who have been detained we highlight Daniela Vargas, the 22-year-old DREAMer who was arrested after giving a press conference in Jackson, MI. She is set to be deported without a court hearing.

Vargas arrived in the U.S. from Argentina when she was only 7 years old. She is now 22 and a loyal American, pursuing her math studies and wishes to do whatever she can to help her country, the United States.

Vargas was detained by immigration authorities after speaking at a news conference in Mississippi about her fears of being deported. It appears to be retribution for those comments. We fear she will be deported any day.

Step 1: Call Richard Durbin, a leading democrat from Illinois who has taken an interest in DACA and this issue specifically. Call him and ask him to:  “Thank you and please help to keep Daniela Vargas safe and in the US. We need more DREAMers like her, and we need action, not fake promises from Trump!”

  • Phone: 202.224.2152
  • You may not get through, but try!

Step 2: Call your own senator(s) and tell them the same. By now, you probably know their phone numbers. If not, use the link in the top right of our blog.

Step 3: Join United We Dream (whether you’re a DREAMer or supporter) and sign a petition to Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly demanding Vargas’s release.

BREATHE AND STEP FORWARD!

Thank you from the TrumpResistance.TODAY team
