5 Minute Action for Friday, 2/10: Thank Judge Robart

Judge James L. Robart, the judge who issued the temporary restraining order on the immigration ban from his seat in Washington (state) has been under attack since he made his decision 7 days ago. He’s been called a ‘so-called judge’ by Trump, which unleashed an avalanche of attacks by the right. But even Neil Gorsuch, a fellow federal judge and Trump’s own pick for the Supreme Court, stood up for Robart and criticized Trump’s response. A spokesman says Gorsuch called it “demoralizing” and “disheartening.”

Robart and the judges from the 9th circuit who ruled yesterday are under attack. Let’s support them.  Here is a first step for today’s 5 Minute Action:

Step 1:  3 minutes:  Learn about James Robart. Click here for a great article from CNN – http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/04/politics/judge-james-robart-travel-ban-profile/
Step 2:  2 minutes:  Say thank you to Judge Robart. Write a note and send to the snail mail address below. If not, just say a quick thank you on your Facebook page. Here is one option:

The Honorable James L. Robart
United States Courthouse
700 Stewart Street, Suite 14128
Seattle, WA 98101 – 9906

Dear Judge Robart,

Thank you for showing great courage in the face of the inappropriate and irresponsible pressure from the President. You give me hope that our judicial system may remain strong despite the current seige by those who are operating out of fear perpetuated by our current administration.

With respect and admiration,

Step 3:  (if you have time, we’re over our 5 minute limit):  1 minute – Scan what the Fox News said about Robart and his ruling. This is increasingly important – to understand all sides. Click here – http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/02/07/need-extreme-vetting-in-judicial-system-too.html

Thank you from the TrumpResistance.TODAY team

(and see you again tomorrow!)
