Many of our 5 Minute Actions this week have been directed to business, as we believe that global business leaders have the economic imperative to challenge Trump’s idealogy and it could make a big difference. Indeed, the CEO of UBER has resigned from the president’s economic advisory council and now the CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, has informed the president that he will not be attending (we wish he’d resigned, too, but this is better than attending).
The economic business council will meet today. We will be watching and listening.
We will also continue to focus on supporters of Breitbart as a way to discern businesses who are acting BOLDLY. To that end, we understand that Google continues to play a major role placing ads at Breitbart. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?
We have been calling to the carpet AT&T, Amazon and others who advertise on Breitbart, but use Google for their ad placement. Now is the time to address Google’s role directly. As described in the article linked below: “Most online ads are sold through massive digital advertising platforms like Google’s AdWords. One of these platforms, AppNexus, said in late November that it had blocked Breitbart from using its ad-serving tools because the site violated its hate speech policy. Shortly after that announcement, two other ad platforms, TubeMogul and RocketFuel, did the same, according to Wired.”
Google has not followed suit. Shame on them. They have the opportunity for a major impact given the amount of business they distribute to Breitbart.
